Born from primordial romance, 4.5 billion years past, Jupiter was the solar system’s initial planet. And much like its soul, the king of the traditional Roman gods, Jupiter was destined for greatness. Jupiter is that the fifth planet from the sun, and the largest planet in the solar system. At just about eleven earth wide, Jupiter has twice the amount of mass as the other planets put together. But, in contrast to Earth, and the three other terrestrial worlds, Jupiter has no solid surface.

It may not even have a traditionally solid core. Rather, this giant planet may have a dense, liquid center surround by a worldwide ocean of hydrogen and helium gases. Jupiter’s gassiest composition can be observed in its atmosphere. About forty-four miles thick, the atmosphere is a canvas of stripes and storms, churning across the giant planet.

Their hues range within shades of whites, deceitful, browns, and reds, all caused by the different element construct up of the various areas. Apparently the most iconic point of Jupiter, is a carmine brown storm that’s been burning for beyond 300 years, the Great Red Spot. It’s a giant, swirling collection of clouds with wind speeds of up to 400 miles per hour, at least two and half times faster than category five hurricanes. Floating many miles above the storms of Jupiter, are about 79 moons, most of the eight known planets.

The four largest moons were discovered by a urologist in 1610. Called the Galilean Satellites, they include Io, the most volcanically active celestial body in the solar system; Ganymede, the solar system’s largest moon, even larger than the planet Mercury; and Calisto and Europa, which alongside Galilean, may contain oceans of liquid water underneath their crusts. Jupiter’s large collection of moons is only made possible by the planet’s massive size and gravitational pull, the strongest of all the planets in the solar system.

 

This incredible gravity also influences the sizes of the seven other planets. During the solar policy’ earliest days, Jupiter, being the first planet to form, attracted and destroyed space debris that would’ve helped the other planets grow in size. Today, that force may serve as a shield by attracting comets and asteroids onto Jupiter’s own surface, preventing them from crashing onto inner planets like Earth. Apart from the sun, Jupiter has become the dominant figure in the solar system, thereby earning its place at the top of the planetary heap asking.

Jupiter is the fourth most famous objective in the atmosphere (after the Sun, Moon, and Venus). It has been known as a bright “wandering star” since prehistoric times. But in 1610, when Galileo first pointed a telescope into the sky, he discovered four of Jupiter’s large moons Io, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto (now known as the Galilean Moon) and around Jupiter. Recorded speed. This was the first discovery of a center of motion that was clearly not focused on the Earth. This was a major point in favor of Copernicus’ heliocentric theory of planetary motion (along with other new evidence from his telescope: the phases of Venus and the Mount on the Moon). Gas planetoids do not have a solid covering, their gaseous content simply compresses with depth (the radius also diameter requested for planetoids are for levels communicating to 1-atmosphere pressure). When we look at these planets, the clouds in their atmosphere are high (slightly above the 1-atmosphere level).

Jupiter is nearly 90% hydrogen and 10% helium (75/25% by number of atoms, by extent) with traces of methane, liquid, alkali and “rock”. This is very close to the creation of the primary solar nebula from where the entire solar system was formed. Saturn has a similar structure, but Uranus and Neptune have very little hydrogen and helium.
